Under Resolution No. 866 of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine dated 26 July 2001, Kyiv University of Law was included in the list of higher education institutions authorised to train reserve officers.
Training is provided at the Military Institute of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, the Heroes of Kruty Military Institute of Telecommunications and Information Technologies, or the Department of Military Training of the National Defence University of Ukraine. Upon completing the programme, students are awarded the reserve officer rank of lieutenant.

The tuition fee for applicants entering the Department of Military Training in 2025 under the reserve officer training programme is UAH 32,600. The fee is the same for the two-year and one-year programmes.

- Two copies of the initial military registration certificate (except for women), or one copy of the military ID;
