A collection of materials from the International Scientific and Practical Conference ‘Peace through Law: Military Conflicts and Challenges of Justice’ has been published

Kyiv University of Law of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine announces the publication of the collection of materials of the International Scientific and Practical Conference “Peace through Law: Military Conflicts and the Challenges of Justice”The event was organized with the participation of leading scholars, practicing lawyers, representatives of government bodies, the judicial system, international organizations, and human rights institutions.

The purpose of the conference was to develop scientifically grounded and practically significant solutions to overcome the legal challenges caused by the armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, as well as to form effective legal mechanisms for protecting national interests and ensuring peace.

The main thematic directions of the collection: international humanitarian law and its application in modern armed conflicts; sanctions policy and mechanisms for its implementation; judicial reform and modernization of the justice system; ensuring human rights and freedoms under martial law; accountability for war crimes; prospects for the introduction of military courts; countering hybrid threats; legal principles of post-war recovery and transitional justice.

The collection contains research results and practical recommendations that combine national and international experience, including the positions of experts from European Union countries, the United Kingdom, the United States, and international judicial institutions.

The final resolution of the conference emphasized: Law must remain the foundation for the protection of peace and security. Only through legal instruments can justice be achieved, those responsible held accountable, and the rights of victims restored..

The publication is recommended for use in law enforcement activities, in the educational process of higher education institutions, as well as in scientific research devoted to the legal regulation of armed conflicts and post-war recovery.
