A master class dedicated to the fight against corruption was held at KUL NASU

Today, September 11, 2025, at the invitation of the rector of KUL NASU Yuriy Boshytskyi, The university was visited by a famous lawyer – Chairperson of ARMA (2023–2025) Olena Duma, who gave a lecture to first-year students as part of the project ‘Dialogues with Famous Personalities – for Students of the Kyiv University of Law of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine,’ which operates under the personal patronage of the university rector. The topic of the master class: Reforming Anti-Corruption Agencies: The Difference Between Theory and Practice Using the Example of ARMA.

During the lecture, the reform of anti-corruption institutions was discussed, namely about strengthening interagency cooperation, increasing the effectiveness of investigations and court decisions in corruption cases, as well as ensuring transparency and accountability in the work of bodies fighting corruption in Ukraine.

Particular emphasis was placed on the issue of the difference between theory and practice using the example of ARMA’s activities, which became a demonstrative example when the declared goals of the reform do not always coincide with actual practice.

Students, graduate students and staff of the university had a unique opportunity to ask questions about modern challenges in the field of combating corruption and receive detailed information about the main changes in the activities of these bodies.

A pleasant conclusion to the meeting was that first-year student Eduard Dorofeyev, for the best-asked question, received as a gift a book authored by Olena Duma, ‘Armageddon for Corrupt Officials’.

At the end of the scientific and educational event, the rector of the Kyiv University of Law of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, professor, Honored Lawyer of Ukraine Yuriy Boshytskyi, spoke, summarizing the meeting, thanking the speaker and all those present, and emphasizing the importance of such meetings for shaping the legal consciousness of future lawyers.
