
A round table on the topic ’33 Years of Ukraine’s Independence: Achievements and Prospects of Lawmaking’ took place at KUL NASU
On August 22, 2024, a round table on the topic was held at the Kyiv University of Law “33 Years of Ukraine’s Independence: Achievements and Prospects of Lawmaking”, which was dedicated to Ukraine’s Independence Day and Ukraine’s National Flag Day.
The event was opened by the university rector, professor Yuriy Boshytskyi. He congratulated everyone present on the upcoming holidays: the Day of the State Flag of Ukraine and the Independence Day of Ukraine.
Yuriy Ladislavovych first of all noted that today 911th day the active phase of the 10-year Russian-Ukrainian war and the fact that we all have the opportunity to live and create – it is all thanks to those heroes who defend our freedom and those who gave their lives for Ukraine. The attendees honored their memory with a minute of silence.
Professor Yuriy Boshytsky noted the inseparability of the development of legal science and the political-legal situation that arises in society, in particular, war.
The moderator of the round table meeting was the Vice-Rector for Research, a professor Ivan Kaylo. Ivan Yuriyovych outlined the range of pressing issues in legal science, law-making activity, and law enforcement, and set the tone for a lively discussion among the roundtable participants.
With a welcoming word to the participants of the round table, the following addressed them: Volodymyr Areshonkov, People’s Deputy of Ukraine, member of the Committee of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on law enforcement activities, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor and Volodymyr Rake deputy Director of the V.M. Koretsky Institute of State and Law of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Honored Lawyer of Ukraine, Corresponding member of the National Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine.
The lectures by the university teachers were interesting:
- Mykola Maliya, head of the legal clinic ‘Phoenix,’ Doctor of Philosophy in Law, senior lecturer of the Department of Criminal Law and Procedure at Kyiv University of Law of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine,
- Ivana Kanfui, PhD in Law, Associate Professor of the Department of Criminal Law and Procedure of Kyiv University of Law of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine,
- Ivana Vashchynetsia, PhD in Law, Associate Professor of the Department of International Law and Sectoral Legal Disciplines.
The reports of the postgraduate students of Kyiv University of Law of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine were relevant and worthy: Roman Serhiyenko, Serhiy Horovenka, Oleksiy Tolkachova, Oleksandra Hlushchenko, Yevhen Chekaryov, Vladyslav Firsov.
The professor gave the closing speech Ruslan ChornolutskyiRuslan Vasylovych thanked the participants of the event for interesting, meaningful, and courageous reports, shared his own experience in law enforcement, and wished everyone fruitful work in the future for the benefit of their native homeland.
