A round table on the topic: ‘Educational initiatives during the implementation of the legal regime of martial law’ took place at KUL NASU

May 15, 2024 At the Kyiv University of Law, a round table was held on the topic: “Educational initiatives during the period of the legal regime of martial law which was dedicated to Science Day in Ukraine.

The event was attended by the rector of KUL NASU, professor Yuriy Boshytskyi, Member of Parliament of Ukraine Ivan Kyrylenko, Vice-Rector for Research at KUL NASU Ivan Kaylo, as well as more than fifty scientists and graduate students of KUL NASU. The round table meeting was held both offline and online. Branches of the Kyiv University of Law of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine were connected – the Rivne Institute of KUL NASU, the Vinnytsia, Uzhhorod, and Lviv research centers.

The event was opened by the Rector of KUL NASU, Professor Yuriy Boshytskyi. He congratulated everyone present on Science Day and emphasized that scientific knowledge must become critically necessary for solving various problems related to the war or its consequences. Yuriy Ladislavovich told everyone present about the work of the university’s scientists, our proposals for amendments to the laws that are to be voted on in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, and how the joint work of scientists and legislators should benefit Ukraine, bring us closer to victory, and lay the foundation for post-war state reconstruction.

 With a welcoming speech for Science Day, a Member of the Parliament of Ukraine addressed the audience Ivan Kyrylenko. In his speech, he emphasized how much the state needs legal science specialists today. The demand for this specialty lies in the prospects of Ukrainian lawyers working on the international stage both today and in the post-war period: in the Nuremberg process, in preparing documents for compensation for damages (reparations) caused by the aggressor country, directing so-called frozen assets toward the development of Ukraine’s economy, providing legal support to those segments of the population affected by military actions. Ivan Hryhorovych expressed confidence that it is precisely young Ukrainian lawyers who must carry out all the necessary legal actions to compensate for damages during the post-war recovery of Ukraine.

On the occasion of Science Day, the rector presented letters of appreciation to graduate students for their active participation in university life and awarded certificates to teachers for their high professionalism and significant contribution to the development of legal science.

Vice-Rector for Research at KUL NASU Ivan Kaylo he congratulated everyone present on Science Day and emphasized that the round table, the discussion of current educational initiatives for the development of legal science in conditions of martial law, activates the processes of improving the current legislation, building a rule-of-law state and civil society, and will bring our victory closer.

Reports were also presented by Doctor of Law, Professor of the Rivne Institute of the Kyiv University of Law NASU Yuriy Kozar, senior lecturer of the Department of General Theoretical Legal and Humanitarian Disciplines of the Rivne Institute of KUL NASU Hanna Dykun.

Presentations of graduate students Roman Serhiyenko, Romana Zakharchuk, Andriya Sivak Their relevance interested the community of graduate students and sparked a lively discussion. It was supported by the vice-rector Ivan Kaylo, university lecturers Oleksandr Bryhinets, Ivan Kanfui, Ruslan Chornoluitsky.

Postgraduate student Anatoliy Pashynskyi He presented his book – the monograph ‘Legal Regimes of Property of Spouses and Family-Type Partnerships in Modern International Family Law’ and donated 50 copies to the university library.
