A scientific-practical seminar on the topic: ‘Current Issues of European Union Law’ was held at KUL NASU

Recently, a scientific-practical seminar on the topic was held at the Kyiv University of Law of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine: Current Issues of European Union Law, which was organized and conducted by the Associate Professor of the Department of International Law and Sectoral Legal Disciplines by Oleksandr Radziwill.
Students of the first (bachelor’s) level of higher education in the specialty 293 ‘International Law’ participated in the seminar, who prepared informative reports with presentations.
The following students showed the greatest activity in preparing for the event:
Tymoshenko Valentina, who prepared an informative presentation on the topic: «Migration and Border Policy of the European Union». The student analyzed current issues and the development of research on migration processes, the development of international legal regulation of state policies in this field, and the main principles and innovations of legal regulation of migration policy in the European Union;
Kapanayko Yelyzaveta, who presented a report on the topic: Association Agreement between Ukraine and the European Union. The speech revealed the main stages and fluctuations of the European integration process in Ukraine, the events caused by the blocking of the signing of the Agreement and its ratification;
Hushul Ivanna, who spoke on the topic: “Main Directions and Legal Regulation of the European Union’s Foreign Policy”. The applicant thoroughly studied the stages of formation and current aspects of the European Union’s foreign policy, the main novelties introduced by the Lisbon version of the EU founding treaties, and its correlation with the foreign policy of the EU member states at the present stage.

The reports sparked a lively discussion among those present, in particular on the following issues: the historical periodicity and causation of major ‘migrations of peoples’ in the context of contemporary migration processes; amendments and novelties in EU migration policy related to refugees from Ukraine as a result of Russia’s full-scale invasion; the preferences that Ukraine may receive as a developing country according to Article 43 of the Agreement; factors responsible for fluctuations in pro-European integration sentiments in Ukraine; the correlation between EU security policy and the NATO membership of its member states; and others.
The event held once again confirmed that the combination of theory and practice is the key to quality education and professional training of lawyers.
