On October 2, for first-year students of the specialty “International Law” of Kyiv University of Law of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, organized by the assistant of the Department of International Law and Sectoral Legal Disciplines Anastasiia Maiorova, a round table in the format of debates took place on the topic: “Is international law an effective tool for preventing wars and conflicts in the modern world?”.

The applicants were divided into two teams representing the positions “for” and “against” the debate topic. The task of the participants was, within the regulations, to provide convincing and legally justified arguments that would persuade the opposing team.

The purpose of the event was not only to improve the level of oratory skills, work on searching and preparing materials, and developing teamwork, but also to produce a joint competent conclusion of future lawyers in the field of international law on the proposed topic.

First-year students, thanks to such classes, have the opportunity to take their first steps in scientific activity and prepare for the level of university-wide, national, and international round tables and conferences.
