University Academic Council Holds Its August Meeting

The Academic Council of Kyiv University of Law of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine held its regular meeting on 24 August 2026. The meeting opened with a minute’s silence in memory of Ukraine’s fallen defenders.

Rector and Chair of the Academic Council Yurii Boshytskyi congratulated those present on the 35th anniversary of Ukraine’s independence and reported on the University’s research achievements. Publications presented included ‘A Concise Encyclopaedia of International Migration Law’; the textbook ‘Jurisprudence in Quotations and Aphorisms’; the monograph ‘Current Issues in the Legal Regulation of Private Relations: Theory and Practice’; and the proceedings of the 16th All-Ukrainian Academic and Practical Conference ‘Current Issues in Law-Making in Contemporary Ukraine’.

Particular attention was given to the findings of the committee responsible for competitive selection for vacant academic positions. These findings drew on the departments’ preliminary consideration of candidates and the selection committee’s conclusions.

To conduct the vote on appointments to vacant academic positions, the Academic Council elected a voting committee comprising the Chair of the Staff Council, Volodymyr Pavlov; the Head of the Academic and Methodological Department, Iryna Kudina; and the Head of the Research Library, Tetiana Yaroshevska.

A secret ballot was held in accordance with the established procedure, and the Chair of the selection committee reported the results to the Academic Council. Staffing matters were considered with due regard for the prescribed procedures and the principles of openness, objectivity and collective decision-making. The Council also considered other agenda items and adopted the relevant decisions.

The meeting was constructive and businesslike. Its decisions will support the further development of teaching and research at Kyiv University of Law.
