October 1, 2026

The Academic Council of Kyiv University of Law of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine held its regular meeting on 1 October 2026. The meeting opened with a welcome address from Rector Serhii Matvieiev. He offered greetings to Council members and the University community on Defenders of Ukraine Day, the Feast of the Protection of the Most Holy Mother of God and Ukrainian Cossacks Day — occasions that bring together spiritual traditions, historical memory and the resilience of the Ukrainian people.

The Rector expressed his heartfelt gratitude to all those courageously defending Ukraine, its freedom and independence. He also reflected on the particular significance of these occasions for every Ukrainian.

Those present observed a minute’s silence in memory of Ukraine’s fallen defenders and all innocent victims of Russian aggression.

Following the commemoration, the Academic Council proceeded to its agenda.
The Council considered current University matters, including improvements to teaching and learning, preparations for accreditation and licensing, academic integrity, the revision of internal regulations, a safe learning environment, career guidance and institutional partnerships.

The decisions adopted aim to improve the University’s work, maintain the quality of education, develop its academic community and strengthen internal standards. The Academic Council continues to support the University’s educational and research potential and to create conditions for students’ professional and personal development.

An air-raid alert interrupted the meeting, and participants moved to a shelter. After the alert ended, the meeting resumed and all planned agenda items were considered.
