An open lecture session on the academic discipline ‘International Economic Relations’ on the topic ‘Global Finance in the System of International Economic Relations’ was held at KUL NASU

In our university, there is a tradition of holding open lectures and practical classes. The feature of an open lecture is that, on one hand, it is an ordinary, regular lecture of the educational process aimed at higher education students, and on the other hand, it is an event in the professional activity of the lecturer and requires special preparation from them to show their activity in the best light and demonstrate to colleagues an example of pedagogical mastery.

The purpose of an open lecture is to control the quality of the lecturer’s teaching; exchange experience; provide friendly assistance from colleagues to the lecturer in identifying shortcomings in their work and addressing them; and seek opportunities to improve the educational process. Open lectures contribute to the cohesion of the department team, creating a conceptual unity of scientific and methodological approaches and actions regarding the organization of the educational process and the requirements for higher education students. However, it is necessary to remember that the lecture is delivered not for colleagues, but for higher education students, so excessive “showing off” is inappropriate here.

Associate Professor of the Department of International Law and Branch Legal Disciplines, PhD in Economics Olena ANTONOVA On April 13, 2023, I delivered an open lecture on the subject ‘International Economic Relations’ to first (bachelor’s) level higher education students, specialty 293 ‘International Law’.

According to the lecture plan, the following issues were highlighted:

• The world financial system and the principles of its functioning;
• International financial markets;
• International financial flows;
• Global financial market;
• Development of the world financial system in modern conditions;
• Major global financial centers;
• Offshore zones in the system of global financial centers.

Higher education students listened carefully to the lecturer, striving to master the material on world finance in the system of international economic relations. The presence of a multimedia presentation significantly helped in mastering the material.

After the lecture, colleagues in the department discussed it. The academic and teaching staff emphasized the lecture’s substance (the topic was fully covered), informativeness (the lecture contained interesting material), connection with practice (the practical significance of the presented material was shown), logical structure, confident mastery of the material (the lecturer does not read the text but reflects and answers questions), emotional expressiveness (the lecturer’s interest and personal opinion were felt), audience engagement, language culture, accessibility, and pacing of the presentation.

The friendly nature of the lecture discussion evidenced a healthy psychological climate in the department, the level of qualification, and the interest in improving the educational process.

All scientific and pedagogical staff of the departments, especially beginners, need to attend the lectures of their colleagues, experienced scientists, more often in order to improve their professional level.
