
Borys Andresiuk’s Photography Exhibition Opens at the University Ahead of Independence Day
On 20 August 2026, ahead of Ukraine’s Independence Day, Kyiv University of Law of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine hosted the opening of a photography exhibition by Borys Andresiuk.
The event brought together members of the university and research communities, diplomats, artists, medical professionals, lawyers and civil society representatives. University lecturers and students, researchers, cultural figures and distinguished guests attended the opening.
The exhibition was opened by the University’s Rector, Professor Yurii Boshytskyi. Welcoming Borys Andresiuk and everyone present, he noted the special significance of holding an arts event on the eve of Ukraine’s Independence Day. He emphasised the role of culture and the arts in preserving historical memory, national identity, spiritual values and the continuity of Ukraine’s cultural traditions.
Distinguished guests represented diplomatic, academic, artistic, civic and professional circles. The University welcomed Tarek Kazem, Minister Plenipotentiary at the Embassy of the Republic of Iraq in Ukraine. Also attending were the President of the Academy of Political and Legal Sciences of Ukraine, Petro Myronenko , and former Minister of Culture of Ukraine Mykhailo Kulyniak. The arts community was represented by Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor and Director of the Institute of Design and Advertising Yevhen Antonovych; artist, sculptor and Professor Oleksii Ovcharenko; art historian Halyna Lyfintseva; and arts patron and owner of Gallery 88 Viacheslav Maslov.
Participants from the medical, legal and civic communities included Doctor of Medical Sciences, senior specialist physician, Scientific Director and Medical Director of the German Eye Clinic Oksana Vitovska, and lawyer and member of the Women for Change civic organisation Tetiana Kachur. Bringing together professionals from such varied fields created a distinctive atmosphere of cultural exchange and professional dialogue.
In their speeches, the guests congratulated Borys Andresiuk on the opening and highlighted the exhibition’s particular resonance on the eve of Ukraine’s principal national holiday. They spoke of art as a means of preserving memory, reflecting on the present and affirming national cultural identity.
The photographs offered visitors the artist’s personal vision of Ukraine and its natural, cultural and spiritual landscapes. Through photography, he captures the spirit of the times, the beauty of the country, its people, history and atmosphere. These themes gave the exhibition special meaning during the celebrations of Ukraine’s independence anniversary.
The opening provided an opportunity for conversation among people working in education, research, diplomacy, culture, the arts and public life. It demonstrated the importance of art within a university and its contribution to students’ cultural outlook.
