Europe Day

Europe Day, which is celebrated in Ukraine every year on May 9 together with the states of the European Union, was established by the Decree of the President of Ukraine No. 266/2023 “On Europe Day” dated May 8, 2023, based on the awareness of the European identity of the Ukrainian people, with the aim of strengthening the unity of the peoples of Europe, ensuring peace, security, and stability on the European continent, to attest to commitment to the ideals and values of democracy, and in support of initiatives of youth and other public associations of Ukraine.

In this year’s greeting on the occasion of Europe Day Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk fairly noted that today’s celebration symbolizes unity, peace, solidarity, and the shared values on which the European family is based. For Ukraine, Europe Day is not just a date, but a testimony of our choice: to be part of the democratic world, a free Europe, where dignity, freedom, and the rule of law are respected. This year we celebrate Europe Day in times of trials – and it is precisely now that unity gains true strength. Today, more than ever, it is important to stand together, support one another, and protect freedom and democracy. We continue the struggle for a European future, a just peace, and a successful Ukraine.

Fully sharing the views on the importance of the unity of the states of the European family for Ukraine, especially in these times of severe security challenges and threats to our country, the KUL NASU team, like all Ukrainians, expresses sincere gratitude to our European friends and partners for their solidarity, assistance, and unwavering support for Ukraine.

We are firmly convinced that only in a friendly family of European democratic countries will Ukraine flourish and be revived after a joint victory over the neo-Nazi Russian plague.
