Excursion of KUL NASU students to the Supreme Court of Ukraine

On November 19, 2025, as part of educational activities organized by the rector’s advisor Iryna Sopilko, with the accompaniment and organization by the Vice-Rector for Educational and Career Guidance Work Mariia Huchko For second-year students of the Kyiv University of Law of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, an educational excursion to the Supreme Court of Ukraine was held – the highest judicial instance of the state, which shapes the unity of judicial practice and determines key legal approaches in our country.

During the excursion, the students learned about the history of the highest judicial institution of Ukraine. The building of the Supreme Court is located in one of the most famous historical sites of the capital, in the Klov Palace. This magnificent architectural ensemble of the 18th century is an example of Baroque luxury and once served as a residence for high-ranking officials.

Over the centuries, the palace changed its functions, underwent restorations and reconstructions, but preserved the unique atmosphere of historical depth.

The Supreme Court in its current form was renewed in 2017 as part of a large-scale judicial reform that aimed to increase transparency, quality, and independence of justice. The new composition of the court, new procedures, and modern work standards became important steps for strengthening trust in the judiciary.

The courtrooms, where decisions affecting the development of law and the practice of the entire country are made, left a special impression. Students had the opportunity to see how the work of judges, assistants, and staff is organized, as well as to understand how responsible and complex the daily activities of the Supreme Court are.

Such excursions help future lawyers better grasp the real dimension of the profession, feel the importance of justice, and be inspired for further acquisition of knowledge and professional development.
