National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine Kyiv University of Law

University Welcomes First-Year Students and Presents Student ID Cards on 1 September

September 1, 2026

The ceremony began with Ukraine’s national anthem and a minute’s silence in memory of the defenders who gave their lives for our country’s freedom, independence and future.

It was a special day for the whole University community: a new generation of determined, ambitious and talented young people joined Kyiv University of Law of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, choosing a career in law and a commitment to serving justice.

The ceremony continued with a welcome address from the University’s Rector, Professor Yurii Boshytskyi. The Rector read out greetings from the President of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Anatolii Zahorodnii. Yurii Boshytskyi also congratulated the first-year students on the beginning of an important new chapter in their lives, wishing them confidence in their abilities, perseverance in their studies and success in their future careers.

Words of encouragement and warm wishes were offered by the distinguished guests — representatives of the legal, academic and professional communities:

  • Inna Sylantieva — President of the Women for Change civic organisation, PhD in Law and specialist in political consulting and strategic communications;
  • Nataliia Kozaieva — Chair of the Kyiv Branch of the Notary Chamber of Ukraine, private notary, leader of the innovative My Notary project and ambassador for Women for Change;
  • Natalia Kaminska — Doctor of Legal Sciences, Professor and researcher at the V. M. Koretsky Institute of State and Law of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.

The guests emphasised the importance and responsibilities of the legal profession as Ukraine continues to build its state institutions. They encouraged the new students to study diligently, think critically, remain professionally curious and believe in their abilities.

Vice-Rector for Academic and Methodological Affairs Serhii Matvieievalso congratulated the first-year students, wishing them success in their studies, exciting academic discoveries, active participation in University life and steady progress towards their chosen profession.

A highlight of the ceremony was the presentation of student ID cards. For each recipient, the card is more than an official document: it symbolises a new status, membership of the University community and the start of an important stage in life.

The first-year students also received valuable books and commemorative gifts. These will serve both as reminders of their first day at university and as useful companions as they work towards a career in law.

The ceremony took place in a warm, welcoming and uplifting atmosphere. The calm security situation allowed the event to proceed without interruption, giving the students a chance to enjoy the occasion fully.

The administration of Kyiv University of Law warmly congratulates its first-year students on the beginning of university life!

May this day mark the opening chapter of a successful university journey, and may the student ID card received today symbolise a confident path towards your profession, new accomplishments and lasting achievements.

Welcome to the Kyiv University of Law community!
