
Master class by the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Ukraine Yuriy Malko at the Kyiv University of Law of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine
On May 28, 2025, an important event took place at the Kyiv University of Law of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine – a master class on the topic ‘Features of Diplomatic Work at the Present Stage,’ conducted by a well-known Ukrainian diplomat, the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Ukraine. Yuriy Feodosiyovych MalkoThe event gathered a wide audience of higher education seekers, scientific and pedagogical workers, and enthusiasts of international relations.
The honorary guest was welcomed by the event organizer – the rector of the Kyiv University of Law of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, professor Yuriy Boshytskyi. In his opening remarks, the Rector emphasized the importance of holding such meetings for students, as they contribute to the formation of a comprehensive worldview of the next generation of lawyers. The head of the university also stressed that today’s master class is part of the revived creative project of the university — “Dialogues of Famous Personalities with Students of the Kyiv University of Law of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine,” which is aimed at establishing a direct connection between students and representatives of the state, diplomatic, and scientific communities.
Mr. Yuriy Malko conducted a master class in a highly professional manner, during which he shared with the audience his own experience of diplomatic service in various countries around the world.
The special value of meeting with Yuriy Malko lies in his multifaceted experience in diplomatic work. Over the years of his career, he has held high government positions, including Deputy Head of the Office of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to Morocco, Mauritania, Romania, and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. His deep understanding of international politics, international economic cooperation, and foreign security is invaluable for law students preparing for professional activities in the field of law and international relations.
The guest focused attention on the real challenges of diplomatic practice and on those aspects of the profession that remain “behind the scenes” in textbooks. The audience actively participated in the discussion, asking the guest professional legal questions, which once again confirmed the interest and high level of KUL NASU students.
As part of the meeting, Yuriy Feodosiyovych presented a copy of his book ‘Episodes’ to the university’s scientific library, personally signing it for the student community.
Kyiv University of Law of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine systematically implements the strategy of authentic learning from primary sources, involving practitioners, leading experts and authoritative representatives of government agencies in the educational process. This is not only a unique pedagogical model, but also the embodiment of a student-centered approach, where students have the opportunity to communicate directly with those who shape the history of modern Ukraine at the international level.
