Participation of KUL NASU students in online lectures of the judges of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine

Over the past two weeks, every Thursday, with the assistance of the rector’s adviser, a member of the Scientific Advisory Council of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine Iryna Sopilko and the organization of the head of the Department of General Theoretical Legal and Social-Humanitarian Disciplines Serhiy Matveyev Students of higher education at the first (bachelor’s) level in the specialties 081 ‘Law’ and 293 ‘International Law’ participated in online lectures by judges of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine on relevant and interesting thematic areas: the International Criminal Court, ratification of the Rome Statute, and judicial control over the restriction of the right to freedom in the context of Decision No. 7-r(II)/2024 of June 19, 2024.

Horodovenko Viktor Valentynovych and Honored Lawyer of Ukraine, Candidate of Legal Sciences Yurovska Halyna Valentynivna Each meeting in the lecture series begins with an overview of the latest events in the judicial system and the activities of the working group of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine, which allows students to expand their knowledge in current professional discourse..

Within the framework of the lecture on international law, the students learned about the activities and history of the establishment of the International Criminal Court, its interaction with national authorities, and its powers. In addition, attention was paid to the process of ratifying the Rome Statute – how this process took place in Ukraine.

The meeting dedicated to judicial oversight of restrictions on the right to freedom expanded students’ knowledge on the topic of human rights, in particular the right to liberty and personal integrity, criminal procedural law, and the powers of judicial institutions in Ukraine using the example of the Decision of June 19, 2024 No. 7-r(II)/2024.
