Participation of KUL NASU students in the ‘Book Country’ festival

April 24, 2026

Students of the 1st-2nd courses of Kyiv University of Law of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine on World Book and Copyright Day together with the Vice-Rector for Educational Work and Career Guidance Hanna Hurina and the head of the Scientific Library by Tetyana Yaroshevska visited a book festival Book Country. Our participation in the campaign became a symbolic contribution to the defense of Ukraine against Russian aggression “Let’s collect Russian-language literature”, organized by the Charitable Foundation «Hurkyt». The funds raised from this event will be used to purchase drones for the Achilles brigade.

The students’ attention was drawn by the discussion Artificial Intelligence and Copyright, during which current issues of the active implementation of artificial intelligence in the lives of 21st-century people were discussed. Bloggers and visitors debated what exactly constitutes a subject of copyright, whether the rights of a human user are protected when AI is used as a tool, as well as other issues of human and artificial intelligence interaction. Information about the state of modern legislation in Ukraine and foreign countries was provided by a lawyer specializing in intellectual property law, which interested future lawyers.

After the lecture, the students visited the publishing stands, where books of various genres published in Ukraine were presented, and purchased books according to their own preferences. The holiday, established by UNESCO to promote reading, publishing, and the protection of intellectual property, fulfilled its function for the young generation of lawyers who are obtaining a fundamental legal education at the Kyiv University of Law of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.
