Rector Visits the Hungarian Academy of Sciences

During an official visit to Budapest, the Rector of Kyiv University of Law of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Professor Yurii Boshytskyi visited the Hungarian Academy of Sciencesfor a substantive professional discussion with members of Hungary’s academic community.

The meeting was attended by the Head of the Academy President’s Office, Gergely Bőhm , and the Head of its Department of International Relations, Katalin Fodor.

The participants exchanged views on the current state and organisation of academic life in Ukraine and Hungary. Topics included the organisation of research, the development of research priorities, training researchers, academic exchanges, scholarly events and other matters of shared professional interest.

Particular attention was given to reforms in Hungary’s research sector, the structure of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences and its current activities. Yurii Boshytskyi learned about these approaches and discussed them directly with his Hungarian colleagues.

Gergely Bőhm also gave the Rector a tour and introduced an exhibition of achievements by Hungarian research centres currently on display at the Academy.

In turn, the Rector presented the University’s principal research and educational activities and its experience of working in present-day conditions. The discussion focused on legal education and research, professional training, and opportunities for exchanges between researchers and educators. Possible forms of future contact included sharing experience and research findings, taking part in specialist events and maintaining direct academic dialogue.

The meeting was also joined by the President of Hungary’s National Authority for Data Protection and Freedom of Information and honorary doctor of Kyiv University of Law, Attila Péterfalvi.

Direct professional dialogue enabled the participants to compare the organisation of research and education in Ukraine and Hungary, exchange views and experience, and identify topics for future discussion.

The Rector’s visit to the Hungarian Academy of Sciences provided an opportunity for meaningful professional exchange, for presenting Ukraine’s academic experience and for maintaining direct research and educational contacts.
