Representatives of KUL NASU took part in a round table on the implementation of the Law on Academic Integrity

Head of the Department of General Theoretical Legal and Socio-Humanitarian Disciplines Olena Romanova and associate professor of the department, authorized to check for academic plagiarism, Agnessa Pashynska took part in the regional round table «Features of the Implementation of the Law of Ukraine “On Academic Integrity” in the Educational Process», which took place on April 2, 2026, at the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv.

The event brought together representatives of universities, scholars, and experts from the National Agency for Higher Education Quality Assurance (NAZYA) to discuss the practical aspects of implementing new academic integrity standards.

Within the framework of the round table, leading experts and representatives of the educational sector spoke:

• Andriy Butenko — moderated the event and outlined the strategic directions for the development of the higher education quality assurance system;
• Volodymyr Buhrov — addressed with a welcoming word;
• Yulia Gryshina — presented the legislative dimension of ensuring the quality of education;
• Ivan Nazarov — revealed the role of academic integrity as a component of internal systems for ensuring the quality of education;
• Oleksandr Khymenko — outlined the challenges and prospects for the development of a culture of academic integrity in Ukraine;
• Leontiy Shipilov — presented approaches to the procedures for revoking an academic degree and academic title;
• Nataliya Kuznetsova — emphasized the focus on fostering a culture of academic integrity among participants of the educational process.

At the center of the discussion were issues of updating the internal regulations of universities, improving procedures for responding to violations, and fostering a culture of responsible learning and scientific activity.

Participants paid special attention to the plans of NAZIAO, which provide for strengthening accreditation procedures, developing mechanisms for handling complaints, and increasing accountability for violations of academic integrity.

An important part of the discussion was the practical mechanisms for responding to violations, in particular the issue of revoking a scientific degree in cases of proven academic plagiarism, fabrication, or falsification of research results.

The participation of representatives of the Kyiv University of Law of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine in the event contributes to the implementation of modern approaches to academic integrity and the improvement of the university’s internal policies in accordance with current requirements of educational legislation.
