Rivne Institute Welcomes Its New First-Year Students

September 2, 2026

The Rivne Institute of Kyiv University of Law of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine has welcomed a new generation of future professionals. The Institute held its traditional first-year welcome ceremony, an occasion filled with anticipation and emotion. It began with Ukraine’s national anthem and a minute’s silence in memory of Institute students who fell in battle. Their courage has made it possible for young people to continue studying in their own country.

The first-year students listened with particular attention to the opening address by Rector Yurii Boshytskyi, who described the Institute as a dynamic centre of research and education in the Rivne region. Building on its achievements, it has adapted to the needs of the modern legal environment and trains highly qualified lawyers for public administration, the executive branch, the courts, law enforcement, prosecution services, the notarial profession, legal practice, customs and tax services, consumer protection, copyright, construction, consultancy, the market economy, research and other fields.

Greetings were also offered by the University’s Vice-Rector for Academic and Methodological Affairs,  Serhii Matvieiev; Vice-Rector for Research Vitalii Cherneha; Head of the Department of Criminal Law and Procedure Valerii Andrusiv; and Vice-Rector for Student Development and Career Guidance Hanna Hurina.

The new students were welcomed by the Institute’s Director, Stefaniia Ukrainets; the Head of the regional office of the Court Security Service in Rivne Region, Andrii Shevchuk; Deputy Head of the Lviv Interregional Office of the Ministry of Justice in Rivne Region Oksana Salchuk; lawyer and lecturer in the Institute’s Department of Specialised Legal Disciplines Iryna Sirochuk; and members of the Institute’s academic staff.

The ceremony culminated in the presentation of a symbolic student ID card by Student Parliament members Andrii Stafiichuk and Valeriia Trokhymchuk, formally welcoming the first-year students into the academic community. The first-year student oath was read by Kseniia Matvieieva and Ivan Melnykovych. The students solemnly pledged to uphold the good name of the Rivne Institute, observe academic integrity, respect the law and study conscientiously. The room was filled with a sense of connection between generations: warm smiles, proud and emotional parents, and students already beginning to feel part of a close-knit community. Ahead of these future lawyers lie lectures by leading scholars, practical seminars, research conferences and an active civic life. For each of them, the day marked the start of a journey towards a profession grounded in the rule of law, justice and service to the Ukrainian people.

Institute graduate and parent of a new student Oksana Matvieievawished the first-year students success in their studies, perseverance and academic achievement. The ceremony’s uplifting atmosphere and smooth running owed much to its host, the Institute’s Deputy Director for Student Development and Career Guidance, Hanna Dykun.

The celebrations ended with a group photograph of the students, guests and lecturers, recording the start of a bright new chapter in the Rivne Institute’s history.

We warmly welcome our new students and wish them boundless energy, inspiration, confidence in their abilities and steady progress towards professional success under peaceful Ukrainian skies!
