Scientists of KUL NASU took part in the International Scientific and Practical Conference “Security, Extremism, Terrorism 2024”
Kyiv University of Law of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine acted as a co-organizer of the International Scientific and Practical Conference “Security, Extremism, Terrorism 2024”The initiator of the conference was the European Institute of Continuing Education. The conference also included participation from the Lviv University of Business and Law, Lesya Ukrainka Volyn National University, Private Higher Educational Institution “International Economic and Humanitarian University named after Academician Stepan Demianchuk”, the International Police Association, the Association of Pyrotechnicians of Slovenia, and many others.
The conference was opened by the President of the European Institute of Continuing Education, the founder of the Eastern European Development Agency Yozef ZATKO. He welcomed the conference participants and outlined the agenda. The main thematic areas of discussion: European and Transatlantic security zones, Human rights and counter-terrorism, Eastern European and Russian security space, Military dimension of the Visegrad cooperation, Arab revolutions in the context of regional and global security, Security of dangerous goods transportation, Development of legislative and technical regulatory documents in the field of security, Security risks of legal and illegal migration, Ukraine and addressing its security issues in the field of reform and international security integration, Ukraine’s relations with the states of the Euro-Atlantic region, Cybersecurity, and so on.
The moderator of the conference was the Vice President of the European Institute of Continuing Education Tetyana BUKOROS.
A welcoming address to the conference participants was sent by the rector of the Kyiv University of Law of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Honored Lawyer of Ukraine, Professor Yuriy BOSHYTSKYI. In particular, it was noted: “Security is not only the protection of physical borders but also the protection of rights, digital spaces, and our shared freedom. We live in a time when terrorism and extremism are taking new forms, including in cyberspace, which requires new approaches, innovations, and global cooperation. Thanks to your experience, expertise, and enthusiasm, we have the opportunity to create new solutions that will find practical application and deliver real results.”.
Vice-Rector for Research at KUL NASU, Doctor of Law, Ivan KAILO also emphasized that the topic “Ukraine and the resolution of its security problems in the field of reform and international security integration, relations of Ukraine with the states of the Euro-Atlantic region” is extremely important and relevant in the conditions of war. “Ukraine’s cooperation with the countries of the Euro-Atlantic region contributes to strengthening national security, developing defense capabilities, and moving closer to NATO standards. However, Ukraine faces numerous challenges related to reforming the security system, maintaining internal political stability, and countering Russian aggression.”, – noted Ivan Yuriyovych.
Vice-Rector for Educational and Methodical Work of KUL NASU, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences Violetta ULISHCHENKO emphasized the relevance of issues of security, prevention of extremism, and the fight against terrorism. “Security in all its dimensions – political, economic, social – requires constant improvement and adaptation to new challenges in order to ensure the stability and protection of both individuals and society as a whole”, said Violetta Valentynivna.
Valeriy ANDRUSIV, PhD in Law, head of the Department of Criminal Law and Procedure at KUL NASU, in particular, said: The ‘new Russian threat’ is not only a matter of Russia’s war against Ukraine; it is a challenge to the entire world community, especially now when the terrorist state resorts to nuclear blackmail of countries providing Ukraine with military and humanitarian assistance in opposing the new threat to the world order called ‘Rashism,’ which is considered a form of Nazism and neo-fascism..
The conference was also attended by the director of the Rivne Institute of KUL NASU, PhD in Philosophy. Stefania UKRAINIAN and the head of the International Center for Legal and Economic-Social Studies of Central and Eastern European Countries at KUL NASU in Uzhhorod, PhD in Law Ivan VASHCHINEC, as well as PhD students of KUL NASU.
