Spring diplomatic meetings at KUL NASU
On March 7, 2024, students of the Kyiv University of Law of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, within the framework of the signed memorandum with the Ukrainian Association of Foreign Policy, participated in an event organized on the initiative of the Vasyl Stus Donetsk National University. “Spring Diplomatic Meetings”.
Diplomatic service is one of the most promising and dreamed-of paths for a future career by modern applicants, available to young people after graduating from the Kyiv University of Law of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.
The meeting was joined by higher education students of the Ukrainian State University named after Mykhailo Drahomanov and the University ‘KROK’.
The speakers of the meeting were members of the Board of Directors of the Ukrainian Association of Foreign Policy, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassadors of Ukraine, diplomats and ambassadors of our state in many countries of the world, and representatives in international organizations:
- Volodymyr Khandogiy, president of the Association
- Andriy Honcharuk, Vice President of the Association
- Yevheniy Bersheda, extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassador of Ukraine to Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Algeria, Belgium, and Luxembourg;
- Borys Humeniuk, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Ukraine, former ambassador to Cyprus;
- Volodymyr Koval, extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassador of Ukraine, former ambassador to Syria and Lebanon;
- Yuriy Malko, extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassador of Ukraine, former ambassador to Morocco, Mauritania, Romania, and Jordan;
- Yuriy Sergeyev, former Permanent Representative to the UN, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Ukraine;
- Oleksandr Sharov, Doctor of Economic Sciences, Professor, Chief Researcher at the Institute of Economics and Forecasting of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine;
- Valeriy Tsybukh, Executive Director of the Association.
The meeting began with welcoming words from the rectors and deans of the universities that took part in this event. In particular, the rector of the Kyiv University of Law of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine addressed those present. Yuriy BoshytskyiThe rector emphasized the importance of such communication between students and specialists in various legal fields. Continuous cooperation of the university with the professional legal community opens up broad opportunities for the development of the youth of KUL NASU.
The speakers talked about the main directions of their activities, shared their thoughts on the situation in Ukraine, and emphasized the importance of involving the public in the implementation of the state’s diplomatic mission.
Higher education applicants not only received comprehensive and professional answers to their own questions related to diplomatic work, but also heard stories from the experience of the invited guests, which significantly revealed the ‘behind the scenes’ of ambassadors’ activities, practical challenges, and peculiarities.
Grateful to all esteemed speakers for the important emphases and recommendations, as well as for the motivation for new achievements!
We are convinced that this meeting has become a great source of inspiration for the students of our university to turn their attention to a diplomatic career or to deepen their efforts to achieve heights in the field of foreign policy.
