World Day for International Criminal Justice

July 17, 2026

Dear colleagues, applicants, friends, and partners of the Kyiv University of Law of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine!

We sincerely congratulate you on a relatively young, yet extraordinarily symbolic and significant holiday ‒ World Day for International Criminal Justice, which is annually celebrated on July 17 in Ukraine and worldwide.

Today, on the anniversary of the adoption of the Rome Statute, we remember the foundation on which global justice stands. This day is a powerful reminder that peace and security are impossible without adherence to the norms of international humanitarian law and the protection of human rights.

Today, on International Criminal Justice Day, we are especially acutely aware of the value of justice. May international legal mechanisms work flawlessly, and may every war criminal inevitably receive the deserved punishment. We thank everyone who today fights for the truth, documents criminal offenses, and defends the interests of our state on the international stage. We thank everyone who, through their daily work, ensures the inevitability of punishment for the most serious international crimes, fights impunity, and supports those affected by war. May your dedication to the principles of the rule of law and justice bring the triumph of justice closer both in Ukraine and around the world!

On this day, we wish our colleagues-lawyers, human rights defenders, and everyone who brings closer the triumph of justice and the rule of law, endurance, professional success, and ironclad arguments in courts of all levels. May the International Criminal Court in The Hague always remain a reliable shield for the victims and an inevitable sword for the aggressors. Happy Justice Day! Glory to Ukraine!
