INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION ON COMMERCIAL ARBITRATION

International Competition on Commercial Arbitration, which is held under the auspices of the European Arbitration Chamber (Brussels, Belgium) and conducted by Education Centre of International Law and Arbitration (Ukraine).
     The main purpose of the Educational Centre of International Law and Arbitration is organization of educational events, workshops, master classes, round tables, summer schools, not only for students but also for lawyers who are interested in their professional development.
     The competition is held among the students of law faculties of the universities of post-Soviet countries such as Ukraine, Russia, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Armenia, Azerbaijan and others, combines the best experience of well-known competition (V.Vis, P.Jessup, B.Tedlers) and  which helps students to apply their practical knowledge to a particular problem, as the contest fully simulates the proceedings in international commercial arbitration.
     Main goal of the contest is to raise awareness and promote the development of practical skills of students of law in the field of international commercial law and arbitration.
The main task of the competition is to establish contacts and exchange of experience among students, practitioners, educators, promoting the employment of students in law firms in Europe and the world; conducting of roundtables for lawyers, lectures and students.
     The competition is conducted as a model of international arbitration proceedings and is run in English. Organizers of the event prepare task, which is a dispute between the parties to be settled in international arbitration. Teams represent the interests of each party of the dispute by two memorials, as well as enter into verbal debate with the opposing team.
Among the arbitrators of the are professors of law faculties of universities, acting arbitrators from leading arbitration institutions, lawyers from well-known international law firms.
     The winners of the competition have the opportunity to have an internship in the leading international law firms.
