Rector’s Address
Good afternoon, dear students of Kyiv University of Law!
I am delighted to welcome you following the successful completion of the admissions campaign. Knowing that you may have questions about the educational process, how your studies will be organised, and what specialist knowledge you can gain, I would like to say a few words about Kyiv University of Law of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.
We are a relatively young university—only 30 years old. Although we are only slightly older than many of you, we have earned a respected place among Ukraine’s legal education institutions. We are a classical law university providing education in Law and International Law.
If you want to become an advocate, notary, law-enforcement professional, international law specialist, diplomat, judge, or prosecutor, you have come to the right place—our University.
The Latin motto of Kyiv University of Law is“discere est vincere”, meaning“to learn is to win”. Our strong academic staff will help you explore the vast world of law. Even the six-volume legal encyclopaedia to which our University contributed covers only part of it. The legal profession is exceptionally engaging, and law is a fascinating field of knowledge. I believe your studies here will be genuinely rewarding and will give you a strong professional foundation. We provide modern facilities, well-equipped classrooms, a library, museums, and sports halls—everything young people need to study successfully and master jurisprudence.
Our students can live in university accommodation, undertake military training, and, importantly, enjoy an exceptionally active student life supported by the Student Parliament and the University’s overall development philosophy. We seek to prepare highly qualified legal professionals for Ukraine.
Our University follows the“three Ps principle”—professionalism, propriety, and patriotism. This is particularly important during the difficult period of war, when the legal profession is becoming even more significant and necessary. I am very pleased to welcome every student to our University. Together, we will explore the world of jurisprudence and create memorable and rewarding years of study.
I would also like to mention the University’s international relations. We maintain partnerships with universities in 23 countries. Distinguished legal professionals from Europe and the United States visit us to conduct masterclasses and deliver engaging lectures.
The University educates not merely lawyers, but broadly developed, knowledgeable, and cultured people. Our daily educational and research activities are complemented by numerous cultural projects and art exhibitions. Paintings displayed throughout the University allow you to study in an inspiring environment. I will be delighted to see you at Kyiv University of Law—in lectures, seminars, or the library.
