Department of Criminal Law and Procedure

The Department of Criminal Law and Procedure was created in 2019 through the reorganization of the Department of Branch Legal Sciences. The department ensures continuity and multiplication of the traditions of scientific schools of authoritative predecessors, taking into account the dynamics of the development of legal science and legal systems in Ukraine and foreign countries.

 

The Department of Criminal Law and Procedure, in close cooperation with other departments of the Kyiv University of Law of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, carries out educational and methodological, research and educational activities aimed at the formation of an educated, harmoniously developed personality, capable of constant updating of scientific knowledge, professional mobility and rapid adaptation in the dynamic conditions of the formation of market relations. The staff of the department directs its day-to-day activities to the effective implementation of the concept of legal education of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, which comprehensively combines training, scientific research and education of students in accordance with European standards and levels.

The peculiarity of the department of criminal law and process is that the majority of scientific and pedagogical workers are not only theoreticians, but also practitioners (worked or work in the system of the prosecutor’s office of Ukraine, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, the judicial authorities of Ukraine, the bar of Ukraine, etc.). The work of academic staff of the department is aimed at the application of interactive methods of teaching legal disciplines with the aim of training highly qualified specialists in the field of law. The main criterion for this is competence, a responsible public position, a high level of business ethics, and comprehensive development of higher education students.

The department ensures the organization of professional placement for students of higher education at enterprises (institutions, organizations) of various forms of ownership, in bodies of executive power and local self-government, the Bar of Ukraine, educational institutions, research institutions. The developed internship program regulates tasks, content, types, stages, general issues of organization and implementation of industrial internships, forms of control and reporting forms of higher education applicants based on the results of its implementation.

Academic staff of the Department of Criminal Law and Procedure of the Kyiv University of Law of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine constantly hold various scientific events for students of higher education: round tables, scientific discussions, etc., which involve leading scientists and practitioners in the legal field.

Graduates of KUL NASU work in the Supreme Court, the High Anti-Corruption Court, the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine and other state bodies and institutions of Ukraine, in enterprises, institutions and organizations of various forms of ownership and management.
